5 HOT Issues Facing the WCSD Board in 2022...#2 FOURTH GRADE SEX-ED OVERHAUL
The Presentation & Vote of a NEW 4th
Grade SHARE Sex-Ed Curriculum

The SHARE Committee has been working during 2021 on preparing the 4th grade curriculum updates (all other grades have had massive sex-ed overhauls approved by the Board, and are currently being taught.) This new curriculum will undoubtedly be sent to the Board of Trustees for a vote in 2022.
There are some reasonable changes. The currently curriculum has remained in tact for decades. However, there are some eyebrow raising videos and new "labels" introduced to this young audience. In this new curriculum, there is no longer reference to "boys" or "girls", but rather, "body with a penis" and "body with a vulva". It is also our understanding that "girls" and "boys" will no longer be separated - but all discussions will be done together.
If you haven't had a chance to go and view any of the proposed videos or to review their slides, click on our links below to access our reviews and thoughts on the curriculum as it has progressed through the SHARE Committee here:
