Final Candidates: WCSD District F Open Board Seat
WCSD Board of Trustee, Jacqueline Calvert, resigned because she was caught living outside her district. This has left a vacancy on the Board for the District F seat. On October 26th, the Board of Trustees narrowed the search for a replacement from 11 applicants down to four finalists: Jack Heinemann, Dr. John Gwaltney, Adam Mayberry and Elvira Diaz.
District F Board of Trustee Final Applicants
Elvira Diaz is an immigrant community activist with the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN). She is very involved in the local Latino and LGBTQ communities. She is also the Founder and Executive Director of Nosotros Votamos, a political consulting company. Ms. Diaz currently has one son in the district, a sophomore at Sparks High School.
Dr. John Gwaltney was one of the top two finalists in the vacant District C seat in June of 2021, which went to Trustee Joe Rodriguez. Dr. Gwaltney was the President of Truckee Meadows Community College from 1986 to 1994 and Professor of Economics there from 1994-2013. Dr. Gwaltney also served on the Nevada State Board of Education District 1B for eight years and as Chairman for one year.
Jack Heinemann is a currently a senior at UNR who will be graduating in the summer of 2022. Mr. Heinemann graduated from Damonte High School in 2019. In addition to attending UNR, Mr. Heinemann is currently a food server and part time substitute in WCSD. In 2020, he was chosen as one of the four finalists for the open District A seat.
Adam Mayberry is currently the Communications Manager and Public Information Officer for the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District. Mr. Mayberry is also a part time Political Science teacher at TMCC. He has had 20 years experience in the communications field. Mr. Mayberry is a single father of two girls currently in the WCSD.

Email the board before November 9, 2021 with your opinion on which candidate(s) best represents the needs of your family. Because this isn’t a ballot vote, but a WCSD board appointment, it is imperative they know that parents are watching, engaged and have opinions.
